Creative Work Space!

I love mixing pieces like this. The top is a really old, hand made hutch. The bottom is an antique farm table made from old bead board. Both are about 100 years old; made by different people; from different parts of the country….. now working beautifully together.

I think it’s important for your work space to be inspirational and fun. A place were you can sit and enjoy being there.

This set up would also be a great alternative to a traditional hutch with china or collections of mixed pottery on display. It could be a great vanity or powder room piece with towels and such too!

Mix it up!

Photos of "in house" items in the mags!

We often have clients come in and see a piece they like…. but they’re not sure how or where to use it in their home. The staff at Chartreuse is very helpful when it comes to these questions and I do a lot of consults in and out of the shoppe. However, there are times when a client doesn’t speak up and ask the questions out loud. So……… I’ve spent many hours going thru my mags, Pinterest, books, etc. and found tons of photos using the items we have “in house” here at Chartreuse.

Most everything we have in the shoppe is one-of-a-kind, so the photos are examples of similar pieces. We also want our clients to use this board as inspiration for a custom piece they may want us to build. And, don’t forget… you may have a piece at home that is similar……… and you’re tired of it….. so the board may give you an idea of how to make your old piece NEW!

There are so many things I love about doing what I do. I paint, I build, I create….. but the “hunt” is so exciting! It’s that time of year when things slow down for a few weeks….so I’m hitting the road!

Last week I spent some time in northeastern NC and bought so many things with my Mama…. we have to return to pick them up! We ran out of room!

I also spent a day on the Eastern Shore with my friend Tata. We explored the many barns on the family’s estates (plural) and I stood in one of the most beautiful homes…. on the water….that was built in the 1700′s! Another place I get to return to because I really need a semi to gather all the treasures!

Chartreuse will be closed from the 4th of January until the 20th. Thank you for such an amazing 2011 and Happy New Year to you all! It’s going to be grand… so keep in touch…. and I’ll keep you posted on the adventures!
